Funny you should mention the hovercraft that ran between Largs and Rothesay (I believe it was a trial thing and then ended because as mentioned, it was extremely loud), there is also a hydrofoil that runs most summer weekends in Largs. Video of it here:

It seems we have all the fun stuff in Scotland 😜

Re: Return to the Water
Just noticed in other posts actually that "scots pine" has good links to Loch Eck so he would be the man to ask for info. Nonetheless, quite willing to gather intel as mentioned or help in any other aspects where possible.

Re: Isle of Bute
Some nice ideas but if Cumbria drops the ball we're looking at Loch Eck. Made the preliminary enquiries and it's all very positive... Happy to assist if you are going down the Loch Eck route. Can make the short trip across within the next week or two, to scout potential launch locations and report ...

Re: Isle of Bute
Managed over today just in time to see Stew's run and stuck around for Ted's later too. Will come to say hello to the team at the highland games as you were all more than adequately occupied with interested parties and maintenance tasks! Did you manage to clock Ted's quick run? I think you might hav...

Re: Isle of Bute
Hoping to head across to Rothesay around lunch time... rather blowy here in Greenock though! Will the wind have much of an effect on today's "schedule"?
Cheers, Ollie

Re: Isle of Bute
Hi Bill, I have yet to meet you as hoped back in April, but it is obvious you are a very busy man and I'm sure the rest of the team are very busy also :D . Hopefully that can happen during the event (and/or at the pub!) It sounds like you have everything you need in place, but as previously mentione...

Re: Isle of Bute
Thanks Mike! :) Yes, it will take a bit of thinking and planning to establish the best place to attempt it. I did watch the episode of speed with Guy Martin's attempt at breaking the record - I have no idea why they used the design of hovercraft that they did, I can only assume it was due to budget ...

Re: Isle of Bute
Which 'craft' holds the WIG speed record (is it the Ekranoplan) and who will acknowledge your achievements as being a new World Record. Perhaps that would be Guinness World Records? Just interested and if there is any 'downtime' in Bute something we can perhaps chat about? More than happy to chat a...
